PEOPLE: Piano prodigy

Casey Rafn of Two Harbors, a piano student in the University of Iowa College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, won top prizes at the prestigious 2011 Liszt Garrison Festival and International Piano Competition in Baltimore, Md.

Rafn took first prize overall and Best Performance of a Work by Franz Liszt ("Sonata: Apres une Lecture du Dante") in the Young Artist category. Rafn has been invited to return to Baltimore in May 2012 for a recital at the Birmingham Concert series and a professional recording session.

The Liszt Garrison Festival and International Piano Competition is a five-day-long celebration of music featuring performances, lectures, and master classes, held annually at Notre Dame of Maryland University.
