Partners in Living Well: Holiday activities to warm the season
Stopping in at Goodwill last week, I found the sweater that says it all. It had pumpkins, cornucopias, elves, reindeer and pine trees - two themes knit into one sweater. It was screaming, "it's holiday season!" in very bright colors. No, I didn't buy that particular one, but it sure got me in the mood for the activities coming up for Socially Active Seniors!
As soon as we are finished digesting turkey, recovering from family gatherings and Black Friday shopping, we'll launch right into celebrating the season together with the Christmas Tea, held at the Evangelical Free Church on Wednesday, Dec. 4, 12 p.m. There will be delicious food prepared by the very capable cooks on the SAS board. You'll share conversation and laughs with your neighbors and friends, enjoy a program, drawings for gifts and sing carols in perfectly out of pitch voices. My favorite kind. The cost is $6. Please call me for reservations by Dec. 1 at 218-525-4534.
On Sunday, Dec. 15, an outing to the Duluth Playhouse is planned for the matinee performance of Peter Pan. We have a handful of tickets still available to anyone that is interested in signing up. The cost is $30 for the bus ride and theatre ticket. Afterwards, we will be eating at Grandma's in the Sandpiper Room. The cost for the meal is $11.99 which includes the beverage, gratuity and sales tax, so there'll be no surprises regarding the price. Again, for reservations call 218-525-4534 by Sunday, Dec. 8.
And just a note to promote an activity by Community Partners; they are having their sixth annual Scandinavian Bake Sale on Saturday, Nov 23, from 9 a.m. until they are sold out. You could take it easy and skip baking for yourself if you so choose. Take advantage of their homemade breads, lefse, cookies and more. The proceeds help seniors live independently in our Community.
It got suddenly colder outside and warmer inside. Do you have your holiday sweater ready?
Arna Rennan, Activity Director for Socially Active Seniors, sends her holidays greetings to all!
