Mary K. Freeberg
Mary K. Freeberg, Two Harbors, died at Lake View Nursing Home on Jan. 6, 2007, 11 days before her 98th birthday.
Mary was born in Embarrass on Jan. 17, 1909. She lived a very long and active life.
She graduated from Two Harbors High School in 1927, and worked as a telephone operator in Two Harbors until her marriage to Art Freeberg in 1934.
For many years she actively participated in YMCA exercise and volleyball groups, Rebekah (IOOF) Lodge, delivered Meals on Wheels for 27 years, worked for a time at Litton Industries in Duluth, and bowled in leagues for 53 straight years, ending only three years ago at age 95.
She learned to kayak with Kathy about eight years ago and loved it, participating every year at the Kayak Festival in Two Harbors, including this past August. She was a long time member of Emmanuel Lutheran Church, Two Harbors.
She is preceded in death by husband Carl (Art) Freeberg; and son Gerald (Jerry) Freeberg.
Mary is survived by daughters, Lynda (Merle) Borchers and Kathy Zellers; daughter-in-law Linda (Jerry) Freeberg; grandsons Kevin Borchers and Mark (Kate) Zellers; and several nieces, nephews and their families.
Memorial service was Jan. 9, 2007, at Emmanuel Lutheran Church. Arrangements by Cavallin Funeral Home.
