Two Harbors Community Radio wishes to thank the many people who contributed to its recent success in obtaining FCC authorization to build a low power FM station in Two Harbors and nonprofit status with the IRS. Among them are former board members Bill Hermanson, Jan O’Donnell and Susie Rosette, especially for their work on our organization’s bylaws, IRS nonprofit application and last summer’s public outreach events, respectively.
David Gilsvik donated artwork for graphics used on our T-shirt, banner and promotional materials; St. Paul attorney Ken Kunkle provided pro bono advice on our IRS application; Tom O’Neil, then-manager at Super One, hosted our survey station for over six weeks last summer; Chris Langenbrunner of Community Ed. facilitated establishing our ongoing SurveyMonkey website through the school district; Linda Melcher of Arts on Superior provided interim fiscal agency; Prometheus Radio Project provided invaluable advice in our interactions with the FCC; Authenticity Consulting provided organizational management advice and resources; and engineer Andy Hanus has given us excellent advice on LPFM technicalities.
More recently, we have cause to be grateful to the City of Two Harbors for cooperating in the antenna siting process, to Tom Stender, owner of the historic Harbor Landing building, for providing several months of free office space as we research potential studio sites, to Brian Borglum for helping us develop an informational website, scheduled to become active this early spring, and to Jan O’Donnell and Phill Arnold for donating a gently-used computer and printer to our office space. Turns out “it takes a village” to start a local radio station, and the village of Two Harbors is certainly stepping up to the task – we thank you all!
