Lake County 4-H demonstrates knowledge and skill at state fair
The spectacular array of 4-H projects exhibited this year spanned a wide range of topic areas, including robotics, alternative energy, aerospace, photography, performing arts, clothing, small engines, geology, flower gardening, landscaping, wildlife biology, fine arts and much more.
This year, 4-Hers exhibited and were judged on general projects in the 4-H Building Aug. 26 - Sept. 2. Lake County had nine participants exhibiting Aug. 27-29, including:
Alexis Hanson ... made saddle rack in the shop and wood science project area
canned peach preserves in food preservation
Alyssa Lindahl and Roslyn Martineau... created pencil drawings in fine arts
Stevie Twining... sang in performing arts
Hunter Truscott... made a heart poster in health
Katarina Hanson... made cookies in a jar for food and nutrition
Carly Twining... made concussion poster in health
Paul Schraufnagel... assembled a bike out of four salvage bikes in bicycle
Each exhibitor who was judged earned a blue ribbon for his or her efforts and knowledge. The delegation was chaperoned by Dorothy Veness and Viola Hanson.
Lake County will also have youth participate in the state horse show, Sept, 13-16 at the Minnesota State Fair grounds. They are Hunter Truscott, Andi Magnuson, and Stevie Carlson.
