Big Crowds see finale program
Queen Susan Cavallin and her princess, Wanda Rose, presided over the final events of the 1964 Winter Frolic festivities at Thomas Lake Sunday, following their coronation at the high school auditorium the previous evening. “Miss Two Harbors” will spend a busy year representing the city at such events as the Minneapolis Aquatennial, the Duluth Portorama, the Lake County Fair and other functions. She is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Swaney Cavallin. The night before her coronation, what was described as “the best ever” talent show entertained a big crowd at the high school. Thursday evening at least 800 persons of all ages dined on pancakes and sausages. It was believed to be a record crowd. The fishing derby at Thomas Lake Sunday was the windup of the 1964 Frolic and a big crowd of anglers and watchers was on hand for the event with weather ideal for the event this year.
