Kenneth Earl Drowley, 88, passed away peacefully Jan. 28, 2011, in Andover.
He was born in St. Charles, Mich., Sept. 20, 1922. He joined the Army in 1942 and remained in Germany for 10 years after World War II.
Ken joined his family in Grand Marais and married Maria Schneider in 1955. He worked for his father in his lumbering business in Grand Marais and at the Shell Station in Schroeder for a couple of years. He also worked for a short time at the Veneer Plant in Grand Marais.
In 1967 he started working for Reserve Mining at the yards and docks and then Mile Post 7 until retirement in 1984.
Kenneth is preceded in death by his parents, Sidney and Mabel Drowley; wife, Maria; brother Ray (Kathy); and sister Ethel (Ona) Allen.
He is survived by brother, Donald (Inez); sisters, Pearl (Wayne Schlienz) and Marion (Ray) Burge; daughters, Ilona (Jeff) Willis and Penny (Mitch) Walters; grandchildren, Mike Tessmer, Veronika Willis, Melanie and Kimberly Walters; six nephews and seven nieces. Services will be held at a later date.
