Here's a check-up on some of the runners profiled in last week's issue of the News-Chronicle.

Cally Olson, of Two Harbors, who lost 100 pounds before running the half marathon this year, completed her race in a respectable 2:22.

The four cousins running in in memory of their grandmother all finished the marathon. Charlie Sarracco was the fastest, finishing in 3:20, followed by Carrie Christiansen and Jason Rolland, who both finished under four hours. Husband and wife Kelly Rolland Ask and Matthew Ask finished just one second apart, in 5:53.

Beth Schield, who was diagnosed with breast cancer last year, was pleased with her time of 1:57 in her first half marathon, far surpassing her goal of finishing under 2:10.

Jan Rohde of Two Harbors placed sixth in the 65-69 age group in the marathon, running a time of 5:43.

Jacob Ojard, 37, of Knife River, successfully completed his first marathon, finishing in 6:40.

Sammy Malakwen, 32, who has spent the last few months staying with the Salowitz family in Two Harbors, was disappointed with his 24th place finish, but said he would probably return to try the marathon again next year.

Ron Brickles ran a 1:49 half marathon, good for 12th in the 60-64 age group.

Kathy Ronning of Two Harbors came close to her goal of running under 1:50 in the half marathon, missing it by five minutes but placing in the top 15 percent of her age group. She still outpaced her 15-year-old daughter, Becca Ronning, who finished the marathon in 2:37.

Corey Aspling, 30, also had a good race, achieving his goal of breaking five hours in the marathon. He finished in 4:58.

The fastest local finishers in the marathon were Erik Furo of Knife River in the men's division, with a time of 3:18, and Nicole Rice of Two Harbors in the women's division, with a time of 4:32.
