Gordon Molitor, 84, Two Harbors, died Friday, June 12, 2009 at Lake View Memorial Hospital.
He was born May 5, 1925 to William and Bessie (Neval) Molitor in Duluth, where he grew up and attended school. During World War II he served in the U. S. Navy, stationed in Guam. After the war, he returned to Duluth and attended vocational school, and worked as a mechanic. He married Joyce Hope Carlson August 13, 1949, and they moved to Two Harbors in 1956, and then lived in Toimi for a few years, before returning to Two Harbors where he resided until his time of death. He was employed as a crane operator for Reserve Mining Company for over thirty years until retiring.
As a young man Gordon enjoyed singing, and playing several musical instruments. He was a kind-hearted and gentle man, who enjoyed cribbage, story-telling and time with his children, grandchildren and pets. He was also an avid Twins and Vikings fan, and was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars as well as the American Legion.
He is preceded in death by his parents, his wife Joyce, a sister, Shirley and a brother, Marvin.
Gordon is survived by his sons, Daniel of Two Harbors and his children, Trista and Shane; and Gary of Kansas City, Missouri; his daughters, Sherry (Dennis) Welsh of Lake of The Ozarks, Missouri; Judy (Dave) Holland of St. Cloud, and children Ryan, Matthew and John Geurts, Pam (Mitch) Sandness of Two Harbors and children Zachary and Amber, and Jillene Innis of Two Harbors and children, Joshua and Bethany; great-grandchildren, Tierza, Dimitri, Darius, Neviah, Isaiah and Evan. He is also survived by a sister, Lily and brothers, Ken and Jerry.
Visitation: Noon until the 1 PM service on Tuesday, June 16, 2009 at First Baptist Church in Two Harbors. Burial will be in Lakeview Cemetery, Two Harbors. Arrangements by Cavallin Funeral Home.
