The donation of a memorial gazebo honoring volunteers that have been instrumental in the development of the Silver Bay Golf Course provided shelter from the weather last Saturday for the 55th annual men's invitational tournament.
The gazebo was built as a memorial recognizing Bernie Zupanich, Gene Kentala and Bill Williamson for their contributions to the course. Course Superintendent Norma O'Leary also thanked David Talus, Jim Frericks, Wayne Fenstad and Chris Viola for their work its construction.
One hundred and two golfers braved the rain and fog for the three day tournament. Bruce Hegland of Apple Valley, Minn., took first place in the championship flight with a three-day total of 230.
