“I’m pretty shaken up,” he told the News-Chronicle.

It wasn’t the first time he’s experienced the shock of a structure fire. His garage burned down in 2012.

The Two Harbors Fire Department responded quickly to the fire at 627 8th Ave., but the house was still a total loss, Blankenship said. He said he’s glad that he and his two kids weren’t home at the time. Homes neighboring his also sustained some damage.

Blankenship said the firefighters told him they believe the blaze started in the kitchen, though the cause is unknown.

He has asked the Two Harbors Police Department to investigate the fire.
