Finland News: August 9
John and Bette Pounds of Boerne, Texas, spent a week here visiting with her sister and brother-in-law, Diane and Ric Lindberg and mother Lila Hangartner. They also got a chance to visit with many other relatives and friends. Their sister, Jean Cook from Holland, Mich., arrived on Thursday and will be spending some time here, too.
The Finland Minnesota Historical Society will be holding their annual Tori on Saturday, Aug. 10, starting at 10 a.m. at the historical site. There will be plenty of food, music, and crafters on hand. Also on sale will be a book -- the story of Toivo and Edla Kalander from Finland, Europe to Finland, Minnesota and their daughters Sophie, Lila, Mary and Ruth, "The Four Kalander Girls," by Ruth Kalander Himes and Jack Pichotta.
Janice Haider Szabo and Sharon Haider Carter, who grew up in Finland, were recently in the area visiting friends and relatives.
The Northshore Area Partners held its monthly luncheon at the Clair Nelson Center on Tuesday. The event was attended by 45 people. The guest speaker spoke about vision loss.
