Filing now open for range of elected offices
Election filing for federal and state offices opened Tuesday.
Federal candidates must file with the Secretary of State office. Candidates for state office, including legislative candidates, may file with the secretary of state or in their county of residence. Candidates for county office must file with their county auditor. The filing period for city and school district candidates varies.
Candidates may file from 8 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday at the Secretary of State's office located in St. Paul until filing closes June 5.
Additional candidate filing information, forms and instructions are available on the office website at: www.sos.state.mn.us. Candidates for local offices should contact their county auditor, municipal clerk, or school district clerk for additional information.
The Secretary of State has a listing of candidates who have filed for office at www. sos.state.mn.us. This listing will include local candidates if those jurisdictions provide filing information.
Rick Goutermont, Rich Sve and Brad Jones have all filed for re-election to the Lake County Board. Duluth Rep. Mary Murphy has filed for election to District 3B, which, under redistricting, includes portions of Lake County formerly represented by Rep. David Dill.
Mary Rosati has filed to retain her seat on the Two Harbors City Council as has Mayor Randy Bolen.
