DNR report: June 25
Reports filed Sunday from conservation officers for the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources.
John Velsvaag (Ely) received several off-road vehicle complaints this past week. Checked on a trespass complaint and litter violations. Checked anglers and boaters on area lakes.
Marty Stage (Ely) worked fishermen and ATVs during the week. ATV operators are driving illegally on roads. Other problems are the continuous unregistered canoes that are coming up and heading off into the BWCAW. Otherwise compliance has been good and the bugs aren't too bad. Remember to wear the life jackets.
Kipp Duncan (Duluth) spent time working fishing and boating enforcement on the St. Louis River, Lake Superior, and area inland lakes. A couple of calls from the public were received of bears tearing down bird feeders. Continue to educate boaters about invasive issues at various boat accesses.
