Mariner Volleyball

The Mariners' volleyball season ended with a section 7A loss at Culver to South Ridge (20-25,14-25 & 20-25) Rebecca Dilley had nine kills and 13 digs, Alicia Nopola had eight kills and three blocks and Kari Smerud had 16 set assists. Seniors playing their last match for the Mariners were Rebecca Dilley, Faith Frahm, KaeLyn Lenski, Kari Smerud, Alicia Nopola and Rachel Dilley.

The Mariners finished the season with an overall record of 10-11. Polar League Conference statistics had Phoenix Lillis ranked first in serving with a 97.8 percentage, Kari Smerud third with 276 set assists, Alicia Nopola third with 145 kills. Nopola was also fourth with 44 blocks and eighth with 31 ace serves. , Rebecca Dilley was fifth with 156 digs,.

Mariner Football

Mariner Jonah Koehler was the leading rusher with 661 yards, the leading scorer with 56 points and led the pack with eight touchdowns for the season .Luke Small completed 39 of 92 passes for 585 yards and five touchdowns. Chad Smuk had the most receptions with 11 and Eben Fischer had the most receiving yardage with 204. Leif Maxwell recovered the most fumbles with three and Preston Westerlund led with four sacks. Luke Small led with 64 tackles followed by Maxwell with 57, Westerlund with 56 and Fischer with 50.

Former Mariner News

Biz Huss opened her senior season at Bethel with a goal and 5 assists in a sweep of University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire. Other former Mariners playing college hockey this season are Taylor Guzzo, a freshman at University of Wisconsin -River Falls, Sam Downey, a senior at the University of Minnesota and Jayce Paulseth a freshman at University of Wisconsin- Stout. Marina Carter is a freshman middle hitter for Hibbing Community College in volleyball and Holden Panetti is a freshman running back for Mesabi Range Community College.
