Arts news: April 15
A spring exhibit of watercolor paintings by Kaleidoscope Artists is on display at the Vanilla Bean Café in Two Harbors through May 9. Kaleidoscope Artists are a group of young painters ages 6 through 16. They meet Friday and Saturday mornings at the Voyageur Art Club room with their art teacher, watercolorist Arlee Wilkes, who is a member of the club, Lake Superior Water Color Society and other art groups. She has taught the student classes for more than 20 years.
"It is always a surprise for me to see the humor, creativity and skill these young artists convey in their pictures," Wilkes said. Subjects for paintings in the exhibit include studies of daffodils, apple trees, birch trees, self-portraits, and pictures of the students' favorite fairy tale or song.
The Vanilla Bean Café, on Highway 61 in Two Harbors, is open at 7 a.m. daily.
