The first annual John Fredrickson Active Living Challenge has just been completed. Jody Reineccius, owner of John’s Sanitary, approached the physical education department about the challenge earlier this spring. He wanted to donate money to a cause that promoted healthy living. We came up with an idea that would encourage students to get out and be active outside of the school day. In the months of April and May, students were challenged to be active a minimum of 30 minutes a day for at least 40 days. The activities ranged from riding their bikes to raking leaves. Out of the 70 students in grades 4-6, 14 took up the challenge. Through the generous donations of Reineccius and Shelly Fredrickson, two students won $200 gift cards to Dick’s Sporting Goods and two students won $50 cards. The students were encouraged to spend their money on something to allow them to be active.

We would like to thank Jody and Shelly for encouraging a healthy lifestyle for the young children of our school.

Winners: $200, Kaleb Krech and Manor Ollman; $50, Tanner Halvorson and Mason Ollman

Other students who participated were Jordanne Steward, Lucas Stadler, Ryder McMillen, Sully Tikkanen, Zack Fredrickson, Ero Wallin, Livia Hoff, Nevaeh
