2018 MN Writes MN Reads/Minnesota Author Project Contest
In partnership with BiblioBoard and Library Journal, Arrowhead Library System is happy to announce the statewide launch date for the 2018 MN Writes MN Reads/Minnesota Author Project Contest. We are looking for the best self-published books in Minnesota.
This year's contest kicked off April 1. Submissions will be accepted through June 30. One winner and one honorable mention will be recognized in the categories of Adult Fiction and Young Adult Fiction.
Works can be submitted at indieauthorproject.librariesshare.com/Minnesota. Two rounds of judging will be conducted to determine the winners and honorable mentions in each category.
Winners will be announced in December.
Silver Bay Public Library
• Free tickets are still available at the library for the Lake Superior Community Theater's production of August Wilson's "Fences." Don't pass up this opportunity to see this powerful production about a working-class black family in 1957 Pittsburgh. Showtimes at William Kelley High School in Silver Bay are 7 p.m. Friday, April 13, and Saturday, April 14, and Sunday, April 15, at 2 p.m.
• Friends of the Library Customer Appreciation Day is Friday, April 13, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Come into the library for coffee, cookies, book drawings and be appreciated.
• Scan for Keeps is Wednesday, April 25, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Silver Bay Public Library will host the Minnesota Digital Library Service with one professional scanner and computer. Community members may bring in photos, negatives, slides or old documents, along with their pertinent information, for staff to scan into tiff and jpeg formats. Library may limit times to a half-hour per person.
