Two Harbors Federal Credit Union member David Trieschmann became the first in what could be a long line of winners at the credit union's Highway 26 location. Earlier this summer THFCU launched the "WINcentive" savings account, a credit union-exclusive program that rewards members for saving money.

WINcentive acts like a typical THFCU savings account, earning above-market dividends and boasting federal deposit insurance on balances up to $250,000. Where it differs from a traditional savings account is in its ability to pay much bigger rewards. Each time a member increases their account balance by $25, they are entered into a drawing. Each month 45 members are awarded $100 and each quarter four members receive $1,000. What's more, each year one member wins $5,000.

Trieschmann, a Two Harbors native, was the first to win the drawing at THFCU, but he will still be eligible for prizes awarded later this year.
